First Night of the New Jazz

There are a lot of things to be happy about tonight after the Jazz debuted their newly acquired players. This could be a lot better of a move for the Utah Jazz then a lot of the fans wants to admit. I will be the first to say that I am devastated to see Deron Williams dress in another jersey, but the Jazz definitely got plenty in return. Within 48 hours of becoming a member of the Utah Jazz, both Devin Harris and Derek Favors came to play with great attitudes and momentum. They could not have fit better into the system tonight, which is very good news for the Jazz organization. Devin logged nearly 30 minutes at the point, and poured in 14 points with 5 assists and a few rebounds. He has a desire to win, with talent and ability above that which he is given credit. Derek Favors had a solid 6 points, 3 rebounds, and a block in only 15 minutes of action behind Paul Milsap and Al Jefferson. They should be able to help the Jazz continue to make a run at the playoffs and continue the winning ways of the organization! GO JAZZ!

Just When Things Were Looking Up!

It was inevitable, sooner or later Deron Williams was going to leave the Utah Jazz. Players with superstar abilities have a hard time staying in or coming to Utah. It is a well known fact that is prevalent in the NBA. That is why I will forever be grateful for John Stockton and Karl Malone, also for the few years that D-Will was able to hold down the fort. He has been a solid player, and a stand out member of the community In Salt Lake, and I am grateful for that. He has undoubtedly helped the Jazz maintain the high level of excellence that has always abounded in the organization. He has had many highs and and a few lows here so far in his career, and I really wish it was not over yet, but what can you do. His contract was nearing the end, and when that happened he would have been scouted down by many teams looking to land one of the premier point guards in the NBA, if not the best! He would be been gone by next summer with his talent and abilities at the level that they are. If that were to happen, the Jazz would have been up a creek with out a paddle to say the least, loosing your franchise point guard and getting nothing in return except a lower salary to pay out. With the trade that took place today, the Jazz made a very smart move considering the other outcomes. Deron Williams is currently in the prime of his career, and is a very hot commodity across the NBA, so his value is probably at its peak right now. A trade became available where the Jazz would get plenty in return for Deron's expiring contract, and that is exactly what they did. Devin Harris, a more than able point guard along with Derek Favors, a promising young power forward who is filled with potential. To go along with these two players the Jazz landed a first round pick from the Nets for this summer which should put us pretty high in the draft lottery considering how good the Nets are overall. Then a future first round draft pick to go along with it all. The only thing the Jazz had to give up was the best player to put on a uniform since the days of Stockton and Malone! Only the future will tell how this trade will turn out. I will be the first to admit that I am very excited to see Devin Harris run the point guard here in Utah. He is an All-Star quality player that has been chained to a sub-par organization(Nets) where his talent and ability was smothered in filthiness. I think players playing in New Jersey lost talent just by putting on the jersey. So he should be able to resume his career now that his talent will be nurtured. Derek Favors should be a great player off the bench to the already strong front court in Utah. He would also be good trading material to land some other more need position players if he were to have a hard time fitting into the system. Well nothing against Deron but here is to hoping the Nets dont win another game all season to help increase the worth of the newly acquired draft pick, and also a little bit to teach Deron a little bit of a lesson for the attitude he started to develop the last little bit here in Utah. His talent was starting to go to his head. . . . . Well that is most of what I have to say, but I would be interest if anyone else has any insight.

Happy Days Are Here Again

This is just a post to tell everyone that surprisingly there are plenty of reasons to be happy among the nasty things we live in. The NBA All-Star Game was amazing, if anyone missed it I would suggest looking for the highlights! Kobe Bryant is definitely a superstar, haha he is just an outstanding basketball player, and he has been so consistent for so long! I am glad he won the MVP award in the All-Star Game! That is not all to be happy about, life is just good in general, So I will continue to be happy!

Dwyane Wade Throws a 90-foot Alley-Oop

Ok so this is pretty dang awesome! But how does it compare Wayne Rooney's amazing bicycle kick goal. I cant seem to get a video of it on here yet, but as soon as I can I will. I would invite everyone to go watch it though and leave comments. There are so many amazing plays in sports but they always seem to be able to out perform those of the old days. I don't know just think this was pretty amazing, but I also want to hear about other plays that are up there, so I can be sure to see them all :) Thanks

Valentines Day

Well Valentines day is here again, another year has come and gone. Holidays seem to fly by just long enough to remind us that they come once a year. I wanted to hear some thoughts the whole idea behind valentines, since there always seems to be such a wide spread of opinions about the day. Under any circumstances in our lives. Here are just a few random wikipedia facts on the holiday.

Saint Valentine's Day, commonly shortened to Valentine's Day, is an annual commemoration held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs, Saint Valentine, and was established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD. It was deleted from the Roman calender of saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI, but its religious observance is still permitted. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

Sad Day for the Utah Jazz

The one thing I thought would never happen happened today! Jerry Sloan, the longest tenured coach in professional sports, called it quits. He has been the coach for as long I can remember and Is the face of the Jazz! He has been a dominate force and continuously brought a competitive team to the NBA. There have been so many good moments, and I wish he had been able to cap it all off with a ring, but oh well. He did an amazing job and will sorely be missed. Hopefully this is shock enough for the Jazz to kick it into high gear and start playing with some energy! Only time will tell what this does to the organization but for now I think it was the right move. Sloan had to go sometime, I guess you gotta treat it like a band-aid and just rip it off.

New Random Craving That Everyone Should Have! ! !

Haha yes it may sound super weird and seem out of place on this blog, but it turns out that candles are simply amazing! The last few days I have been burning candles constantly, mostly just for fun. It does make everywhere in the apartment smell great, and not mention the chance to play with fire. They are just amazing but the only problem I am running into is that they are not cheap. I have been tempted to have a different scent for every day of the week, and many others to sub in. I have bought at least 4 candles over the last week, and it adds up fast. The biggest bonus I have seen is that they are very conducive to studying. Something about the scent and seeing the flame just helps me focus. Haha this post probably sounds ridiculous but thats just whats going on these days. Hopefully someone else shares my addiction and has some good suggestions for random candle scents that are out there for me to try. Yep that pretty much sums it up, all y'all should go buy a candle and try it out, you have my word!

NFL Lockout in 2011 . . . .

Oh and P.S. I forgot to mention that I am currently attempting to do a lot of research for an english paper about the pending Lockout in the NFL. I would love any ideas, input, references, and any opinions out there about the lockout whether a football fan or not, I am pretty sure it will affect many more than just sports fans come next fall. I just realized today how big of an industry that the sports world is, not just from athletes and coaches, but it affects hundreds of thousands of jobs. From the stadium employee's to all the companies who have a huge boost in profits during the football season. For all those who don't know what is going on, the current collective bargaining agreement that operates the NFL currently is set to expire on March 4th. It controls all the guidelines of how much the players get paid. The owners of the teams currently want to cut the players income by about 18%, because of supposed financial stresses related to the economy. They want the players to pay for all travel expenses and things related to that. Its a big controversy between the owners and players, and if no one agrees no football will played this fall. But that will be no worries for Brandon Marshall of the Miami Dolphins he will just play for the Heat and be a sidekick for Lebron Wade and Bosh! haha

Thank You for the Broken Heart

This song is awesome in so many ways, I have a great love for talented music. People with amazing voices and instrumental ability should share them more frequently so so that those of us with a lot less talent can still enjoy it. I am always eager to find new music, and usually as long as it is talented I really enjoy listening to it! I thought I would share this song in hopes that someone will enjoy it, maybe even share some more awesome links for the world to enjoy! That is all.

Superbowl Sunday

Yep it's here, the Superbowl. I just wanted to say that it may have been the worst halftime show of all time. There was not even a wardrobe malfunction to keep it interesting. I can not believe that Slash put up with that, and let Fergie destroy that song in front of a national audience. If I were the Black Eyed Peas I would have passed on the halftime show, and let Glee have the halftime show. They should keep their music in the clubs and let vocally talented people perform shows. Haha but in all seriousness the choreography was pretty darn awesome! I will wonder for the rest of my life how the Superbowl became so important but its obviously soon to be a national holiday. I will stay in my dream world where Randy Moss stayed in Minnesota for his whole career and never developed an attitude! That would be the life, and they would have a few rings to show for it. But I guess the Packers can keep all the glory, and Minnesota will have the last of Brett Favre

Life Lesson #1

Well one thing I have learned today is that taking care of your body is not overrated. I felt like my life flashed before my eyes today while I was at the gym. I have had maybe 7 hours of sleep in the last 3 days, and have not been eating much, mostly because of things I had to do and the stress associated with them. I was working out as I normally do when all of a sudden I began to hyperventilate, and became very light-headed. I walked around the gym for a minute waiting for it to go away, it only got worse. I then went to stand by the garbage can, where I could throw-up if needed, and leaned against the hoping to regain my composure. Then the next thing I remember I was laying on the mat. I was there for a few minutes until I caught my breath and then I went home. Yep turns out that the body actually needs sleep, and nutrients would also be nice if you are going to exercise.

Welcome to my Life

This is literally going to be the squeaks and squeals of my life, hopefully I will be able to enlighten you with with gems of knowledge as I squeak away. I am currently a college student who is not very good at being a student, because I would rather be letting the cyber world know what my every thought and move is. I currently should be asleep but nope I am on the computer typing away into oblivion. Who knows who will read this and frankly I don't really care. I just want to say what I have to say and see what happens. College is a great place to be though, and I would not mind being a professional college student for the rest of my life, if we could actually not worry about grades. Anyway this is just a brief note to try and explain where I am coming from in hopes that no one gets confused. If you are confused, maybe the enlightening world of squeaks just isn't for you, but I suggest you ponder it before jumping to conclusions.
